The Piano
Movie: The Piano

There might have been many times in your life that you'd be asked the same question over and over again. Recently while registering for friendster(yes, i've just registered under kevinnow72@hotmail.com) and also for this blog, i have been asked this question: What is your favourite movie? Well, it has to be this one.
It is a 1993 movie. Starring Holly Hunter as the woman who became mute after being traumatised by his husbands death(strike by lightning) and Anna Pacquin(Rouge in X-Men) as her 10 year old daughter. Both won an Oscar for their marvellous performance.
I remember watching this movie with my friend Alice Jiang Jiang who is now married and living in London. We exchanged thoughts after watching this movie and was deciphering, what could've certain contradictions and actions meant. I do that also, after watching Sex And The City(for the first few seasons) with my friend Peter.
But what i also really liked about this movie is the soundtrack. I have always been a great fan of the music instrument, Piano. Throughout this movie, you can hear the piano playing on almost all the tracks of the background music. It was really memorable and touching. After that, i bought the movie soundtrack, the VCD, even the book(of course i didn't finish reading it. haha). But 12 years after seeing the movie, i still could hear the soundtrack lingering in my ears. I bet you might have heard this before.
PIANO (The Heart Asks Pleasure First)
Composed by Michael Nyman.

If you are in the process of selecting a moving company, here are some points to consider:
§ Established Company
Check older copies of the Qwest Dex yellow pages. This will give you a good indication as to whom the established companies are.
§ Customer Service
Are you talking to an experienced representative or a girl Friday? This can make the difference between making sure the arrangements for your move are accurate. This is simple to determine, are you being asked intelligent relevant questions about your items and conditions or are you simply being quoted an hourly rate?
§ Insurance
What is the amount of the company’s general liability policy? Will the company send you documented proof? Do you have to pay extra for insurance coverage?
§ Repair/Replacement Policy
Will the company guarantee that they will repair or replace any items that their movers damage free of charge to you or will they pay you based upon $0.60 per pound?
§ Professional Full-Time Movers
Does the company use only full-time professional movers or do they utilize labor pool personnel and day laborers?
§ Written Confirmation
Will you receive a written confirmation that includes pricing via e-mail, fax or mail before the movers show up to move you?
§ Arrival Time
Will you receive a two (2) hour window of arrival for the movers or a simple: “we’ll be there sometime in the morning.”
