Expensive Theraphy

You must have a open "music" heart to read this!!
Didn't had a good day. Maybe things weren't just going right for everything at all. Had to do something to ease my irritated soul. And so i went for Music hunting. Went to the book shops for Music Magazines. The racks were in a chaotic situation, and selections were limited. Couldn't find the Music Periodicals i wanted, or maybe, i already got 'em all. So i went HMV, straight into the Classical Department. At first i had some unsatisfactory customer treatment from the sales person there but after that, i end up chatting with him about The Swingle Singers. How things can turn around. haha

Swingling Telemann $23.50 & Swingling Mozart $28.50 = $52 !!

He asked if i belong to any Acapella groups cause most of them and use The Swinger Singers as a reference to do their harmony. He also further enlightened me that this group was here in Singapore a couple of years ago, and did a performance. Where did i go? How come i didn't know?! No wonder he was working in the HMV Classical Department. He knows everything i don't. I feel so mini....

So, who are they? The Swingle Singers began as a vocal exercise by a group of French freelance session singers working in Paris in the early sixties. Most of the studio singing was limited to background vocals - oo's and ah's. In 1962, they approached Philips about making a recording. Both thought they might sell a few records to only families and friends. As a matter of fact, in France that's about what happened. But when the recording came out in the States (in 1963), there were a few DJs who liked it and spreaded the word. It began climbing the charts, eventually making the top 10, then staying in the top 100 for almost a year and a half. That first recording, and the two that followed it, won Grammies. Throughout these years, members changed. Different kinds of music were being experimented. How interesting....at least for me it is.
